Citroen Xsara Picasso - The Picasso is the UK’s best selling compact MPV, bettering even the car that started the segment - Renault’s Scenic. The Picasso has been very good for Citroen, the French firm improving its sales markedly in the past few years. The Picasso’s success is as much down to the quality of the vehicle as Citroen’s aggressive pricing, which allows it to regularly undercut rivals by not just hundreds, but often thousands of pounds. Citroen C5 - Citroen might have been able to sell the rest of its range with ease by offering generous cashback schemes, but the C5 never quite made the grade. That was largely down to its looks, its bland style never giving the car much of an identity, despite it appealing in other areas. Now that’s changed with Citroen giving the C5 a rather convincing re-style. Gone is the forgettable nose and rear, to be replaced by Citroen’s smart double chevron grille and neat new head and tail lights. (more…)
Citroen C8 - Citroen has built up a tremendous reputation for MPVs, topping the charts in the compact MPV market with the Picasso, and offering one of the best ‘budget’ MPVs in the form of the Berlingo Multispace. Until the introduction of the C8 its offering in the full-sized MPV category simply couldn’t compete with the best of the competition. With the C8 Citroen now has a convincing range topper for those family buyers needing more space. It’s an important model for Citroen, with the MPV market growing it now has a model that’ll be appealing to those Picasso buyers looking to trade up to something bigger. Inside the C8 offers either seven individual seats, or in eight-seat format, a rear three-seat bench, with electrically operated sliding rear doors on all but the entry-level model. All the seats offer slide and tilt adjustment, the outer middle seats fitted with ISOFIX child seat mountings; all come equipped with three-point belts. Citroen C1 GT - Citroen’s C1 has now morphed into something more like a supercar. The wild GT was penned by Swiss-based Italian designer Franco Sbarro. Under the bonnet, the coachbuilder has slotted in the C2 VTR’s 1.6-litre petrol engine. Then, the standard C1 was cloaked with outrageous bulging bodywork, making the hatchback look as if it has overdosed on steroids. (more…)
