Fiat Punto 2007 - Grande Punto, With sales of the Grande Punto up by 140 per cent over the previous generation, the used car spotlight has been thrown on Fiat’s supermini range. But is the latest model the best buy? It’s 200mm longer than its predecessor, and while the cabin is roomy, it’s not much bigger. But the car is far more refined and fun to drive. Fiat Punto 2006 - You can certainly pack plenty of people into the practical Punto, but post-facelift models aren’t as pretty as the slick original. Still, the Fiat is great value for money. Fiat ‘New Large’ - Having completed the presentation of the company’s smallest car, the Panda, Fiat ’s development team now seems to be at full throttle producing the replacement of the long-forgotten Fiat Croma. Some two years ago the company was testing heavily camouflaged prototypes of the new crossover-style top-of-the-range. However, with strong in-house competition from the Opel Signum, Fiat’s board of managers decided to stop the project and start again from scratch. Fiat Panda 2005 - So my Italian love affair is soon to be over, with the departure of our long-term Fiat Panda, but in true romantic style, the experience hasn’t always been a bed of roses! Fiat Stilo Weekend - Not only in Turin but also at the German Nurburgring race track, Fiat is currently testing a heavily disguised prototype of what’s to become the future Stilo Weekend estate version. While the principal technical base of the three- and five-door hatchbacks - with a wheelbase of 2.60 metres and a width of 1.76 metres - will be left untouched, length will grow about 20 centimetres to 4.45 metres which is four centimetres shorter than the current Marea Weekend. Fiat Stilo 2004 - Stilo is the Italian word for style - but the look of Fiat’s family car has never caught the imagination of buyers. However, this makes it a great used choice, as heavy depreciation ensures it can now be had for Punto money. The three-door looks sportier than the upright five-door, but if it’s space you’re after, go for the latter. All are well equipped, but some of the electrics can be troublesome, so check thoroughly.
