Jeep Liberty Preview – Combining a cute face with a small curvy body doesn’t work as well for rugged SUVs as it does, say, your kid’s prom date, so when the Liberty arrived to replace the boxy, grizzled Cherokee way back in 2002 Jeep’s customer base began skewing wildly toward women despite the new ute’s trail-rated capabilities. For 2008, the Liberty is liberated from this marketing misstep.
Jeep Patriot – First Drive: Like so many irrefutable facts we learn early in life – a glowing stove burner does bad things to skin, chunky milk doesn’t taste good – Jeeps are meant to go off road. Or so we thought. Last year, the brand unveiled the all-new Compass, a crossover that, no matter how it was equipped, wasn’t worthy of the brand’s off-road worthy Trail Rated badge. Then along came the Patriot, a boxier, more rugged looking crossover based on the same platform that, when equipped with a Freedom-Drive II off-road package, is worthy of that esteemed moniker, and thus, makes this little rig a legit Jeep. Finally, everything’s right with the world again.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 - Just a few years ago there was a self-help craze over the Chicken Soup for the Soul book series. The idea was that the compiled stories served to heal the inner child of readers looking for a fresh perspective on life, much like a grandmother’s homemade, fowl-based concoction would supposedly eradicate the common cold…or some such malarkey. In any case, the series flourished and has gone on to include titles like Chicken Soup for Every Mom’s Soul,Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover’s Soul,Chicken Soup for the Baseball Fan’s Soul, and the long awaited A 6th Bowl of Chicken Soup for the Soul. But there’s much, much (too much?) more, with editions focused on military wives, Canadians, Christian women, horse lovers, Latter-Day Saints, mothers of preschoolers, prisoners, and one sure to be seen throughout the stands at Talladega, Chicken Soup for the NASCAR Soul.
